Leg Amputation Monday, June 20th

by Damon on June 21, 2011

The day had finally arrived.

My surgery was scheduled for 5pm in the afternoon.  I’d like to think that my doctor was saving the best for last!

It had been a long day as I couldn’t eat or drink anything throughout the day.  For previous surgeries that was no problem since those surgeries were early in the morning.  Fortunately, I’ve done the Master Cleanse 8 times over the last 3 years, so going all day without eating or drinking wasn’t a problem.

Dr. Munroe said that the surgery went great and the only question I would be asking afterwards was “why didn’t I do this sooner”.

Well, there are many reasons why I didn’t do it sooner, but this was the time to do it.

I’m excited about my new future and all of the challenges that I’ll be able to overcome!

Here’s a pic the day after surgery:

Hi there Damon, very well done, being in good health you healed quickly obviously, and the surgeon did a great job, having a decently shaped stump is so important when wearing a pros leg, you will find life will begin for you again now.. I was a prosthetic limb fitter some 20 years ago and technology has improved so much. Very best wishes and every success, cheers from Anthony in Liverpool UK.
